This is the first time Vietnam Glory Program to be selected to honor outstanding and excellent works leaving impressive imprint, contributing significantly to the cause of national construction and defense since 1975.
Based on the proposals of all labour unions levels in the country with 35 outstanding works representing all fields of social life, the Central Council discussed, analyzed, evaluated and gave comments on each specific case, got public opinion widely on the mass media, especially the media agencies of the Labour Union to agree on selecting 8 the most typical and excellent works.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the collectives and individuals who have built and operated, being owners of the works making a hallmark in the cause of building and developing the country from renovation period to now. At the same time, he affirmed that the honor of country’s typical works are true symbols, vivid evidence of dare to think and do spirit, contributing to the society of the Vietnamese intellectuals.

For two typical works of power industry, according to the Central Council, the North - South 500kV line is considered a miracle of the twentieth century. This is an urgent and important solution to solve the power shortage situation in the Central, the Central Highlands and the South, creating an important turning point to the socio-economic development of the region.
Hoa Binh Hydropower Project with billions of kWh of power production generated annually has solved the nation’s severe power shortage in the 1980s of twentieth century - a very hard period as the country just stepped out of wars against invaders. These are typical examples representing Vietnamese electricity staff’s willpower, energy, bravery and wisdom, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the country.
The 14th Vietnam Glory Program was presided over by Vietnam General Confederation of Labour in collaboration with relevant agencies, Lao Dong Newspaper to directly implement.

2. North-South 500kV transmission line.
3. Vietnam’s telecommunication satellites (VINASAT-1, VINASAT-2).
4. Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant.
5. The work of “Geological map and mineral map of Vietnam with the scale of 1: 200,000”
6. The work of “Encyclopedia”
7. The work of “Research to create and develop two new rice varieties OM6976 and OM5451” with high productivity and quality for production and export.
8. Extensive vaccination program.
