The meeting was held in an online form, connecting from EVN headquarters (in Hanoi) to USAID, NREL endpoints in both Vietnam and the United States.
Mr. Vo Quang Lam – Vice President of EVN (standing) spoke at the workshop
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vo Quang Lam – Vice President of EVN said that on the basis of the cooperation agreement between Vietnam Electricity and USAID signed in 2020, despite the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on Vietnam and many countries around the world, causing the cooperation program to be somewhat interrupted, the parties have actively cooperated and achieved some positive results.
Typically, in June 2021, USAID in cooperation with EVN organized a training course on rooftop PV power for managers, engineers and technicians at power corporations/companies, providing EVN and its member organizations with more experience in rooftop PV power management and development in Vietnam. Along with that, USAID and NREL in collaboration with EVN have also implemented a number of studies, collected and provided data, exchanged ideas and financial impact assessment methods, communication programs, etc. about rooftop PV power.
At this meeting, the parties presented, discussed and gave comments on the situation of rooftop PV power development in 2021; agreed on a cooperation plan in 2022, which shall focus on a number of subjects such as training, analyzing and forecasting generation output of rooftop PV power systems; impacts of electric vehicles on the Vietnamese power system, etc.
