Updated information of power generation output during scorching hot days

During early June 2017, electricity consumption statistics of the national power system, the Northern power system and Hanoi’s power system has constantly set new records. Despite that the peak capacity and maximum generation output on June 1, 2017 were the highest ever until then, these records were broken on June 2, 2017.

Up to June 4, 2017, the peak capacity of the national power system exceeded 30,000 MW and the peak demand in a day reached nearly 630 million kWh (occurred on June 2, 2017).

All the relevant organizations in the power sector have well prepared themselves in advance and made great efforts to respond to the situation with various solutions, many grid projects have been upgraded and rehabilitated before the hot season, the electricity delivery situation in the hot season of 2017 therefore has been much improved in comparison with that in the previous time.

According to statistics from Customer Care Centers under Power Corporations, a critical increase in number of calls to Customer Care Center was witnessed from 0h00 on June 1, 2017 until 23h59 on June 3, 2017, with 1179 calls to Customer Care Center of Hanoi and 13,509 calls to other Northern cities and provinces, much higher than that of one month ago.

All the inquiries from customers’ calls have been well received, processed and notified to responsible organizations or direct grid management units so that failures were remedied and electricity supply was recovered to customers in the shortest possible time. Among calls to Customer Care Centers, calls informing of power outages have represented a major percentage recently and many more calls from residential customers have been recorded, mainly due to the rapidly rising use of air conditioners and cooling equipment.

With such long - lasting scorching hot weather, EVN keeps recommending that offices, companies, agencies and all the people should consume electricity in the most economical and efficient manner. In particular, when using air conditioners, temperature should be set in the optimal mode, from 26 degree Celsius and above, in order to both save electricity for the sake of customers and mitigate local overload hazards of the power grid, at the same time avoid an unexpectedly sudden increase of electricity bill.
