The upgrading capacity project of Nha Be 500kV substation is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and managed by SPMB. Power Transmission Company 4 manages the operation when the project is completed.

The project’s scale is to increase the capacity of a 500kV transformer (AT7) from 600MVA to 900MVA. The completion of the project supports to ensure power supply for the load and meet demand, promote socio-economic development for Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas. At the same time, reduce the load for 500/220kV transformers at Nha Be 500kV substations and reduce the load on 220kV lines in the area.

After upgrading capacity, Nha Be 500kV substation has a total capacity of 1,500MVA.
