Using fly ash and slag of coal fired thermal power plants to make the ground for the border checkpoint in Binh Thuan province

Recently, 20 youth union members of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company (under Power Generation Corporation No. 3) and Lien Huong port border checkpoint (Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province) have carried out the pilot project "Construction of the ground for Vinh Tan border checkpoint, using concrete mixed with fly ash and slag”.

The project is estimated to cover an area of ​​about 500 square meters with a thickness of 15 cm. The project is highlighted by piloting the use of concrete mixed with fly ash and slag of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant (under the management of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company) with a fly ash proportion of about 20% in replacement of cement.

Fly ash of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company has been tested and certified as suitable for being used as backfilling materials in accordance with Vietnamese standards. The product complies with QCVN 16:2017/BXD standard, meeting the requirements of maintaining certification and satisfying standards according to the technical instructions for selecting concrete mix components according to Decision No. 778/QD-BXD of the Ministry of Construction.

Construction engineers of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company have technically assisted in the mixing process to ensure adhesion, smoothness and durability for the project.

The ground made in concrete mixed with fly ash and slag has been completed, creating a clean and beautiful landscape for Vinh Tan border checkpoint

 The project has demonstrated the practical applicability of fly ash and slag of thermal power plants; which is recycled as a backfilling material and other products in conformity with current codes and standards.
