VND 12 billion invested for power supply to last “oasis” of Tra Vinh province

On 12 December 2018, the project of power supply from the national grid for 146 households of Ban Chat dune (An Loc dune) in Hoa Tan commune, Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province was officially energized. Tra Vinh Power Company completed power supply to the last “oasis” of the province.

This is the second project with underground cables crossing river constructed by Tra Vinh Power Company (Tra Vinh PC) in 2018, following the project of power supply to Phung dune (Long Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district).

The project of power supply for An Loc dune is implemented by loans from the Southern Power Corporation with the construction scale of nearly 4km of overhead 3-phase medium-voltage transmission line; 0.7km of underground 3-phase medium-voltage transmission line; 5.5km of overhead 3-phase low-voltage transmission line; 04 substations with capacity of 450kVA.

Being supplied with power is a crucial premise for people on the “oasis” to make breakthrough progress in socio-economic development, ensure political security in the area.

Local authorities will organize technical training courses on animal husbandry and cultivation so that people can utilize their power to develop production and get rich on their own homeland. In the future, an eco-tourism area with garden can also be developed on this “oasis”.

Mr. Huynh Chi Hai - Deputy Director of Tra Vinh PC said that after this project has been put into operation, the Company would continue to deploy projects of repair and upgrading of power distribution grid in Tra Vinh province, using the 2nd-phase loan from KfW Development Bank with the total investment capital of about VND 111 billion; project of power supply from the national grid to rural areas in Tra Vinh province in the period of 2015-2020, invested by EVN with a total capital of over VND 307 billion aimed to supply power to about 12,269 households.
