Mr. Tran Quang Hoai - Director General of Disaster Prevention and Control
Assessing the response to natural disasters in recent years by Vietnam Electricity, Mr. Tran Quang Hoai said that EVN's disaster response and prevention and control had been implemented synchronously, and were highly appreciated by the Central Steering Committee.
It is acknowledged by the Central Steering Committee that the hydroelectric reservoirs managed by EVN are much more secure than other reservoirs. These reservoirs have been carefully inspected and evaluated before the rainy season. The management and operation have been conducted strictly in accordance with regulations. Dam monitoring and measurements, and rainfall measurements have been carried out methodically and professionally. Reservoir owners under EVN have coordinated with the Central Steering Committee and local authorities to operate the flood smoothly.
For the power grid system, when storms and floods occur, EVN have always dispatched large forces to take duty. EVN have proactively cut off power in dangerous areas and urgently restored power lines after storms and floods. EVN have mobilized manpower to promptly restore power supply. This has a very important meaning in serving the direction and administration of the central and local levels in overcoming consequences caused by natural disasters, and at the same time serving production and people's daily activities after the storm.
EVN organizes a standing force to ensure the safety of the power grid system, proactively cut off power when storms land in areas being prone to risks; promptly overcome problems in storms and rains so as to be ready to restore power supply to serve people's daily life and production.
From 31 October 2020 to 4 November 2020, linemen from Power Transmission Company No. 3 assisted those from Central Power Corporation in repairing Quang Ngai-Tu Nghia 110kV transmission line damaged after Typhoon No. 9.
