Joining the meeting from EDF were Mr. Patrick Charignon – Vice President for the Asia-Pacific region, and Mr. Karim Bregui – Director of EDF Vietnam.

EVN and EDF discuss directions for enhanced cooperation in energy sector
The two sides exchanged views on various areas of collaboration in the energy sector, including the development of new power sources, renewable energy, energy storage, pumped-storage hydropower, grid operation, and human resource training and development.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Bernard Fontana affirmed that EVN is a key partner for EDF in the Asia-Pacific region. He expressed a strong desire to continue supporting Vietnam’s energy transition, emphasizing EDF’s readiness to share its experience, provide technical assistance, offer training, and explore suitable partnership models aligned with Vietnam’s energy development strategies, particularly in nuclear and renewable energy projects.

In response, EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An highly appreciated EDF’s practical insights regarding technology, partnership models, and the implementation of large-scale energy projects. EVN welcomed EDF’s willingness to collaborate and affirmed its readiness to jointly explore and propose cooperation frameworks aligned with Vietnam’s roadmap for energy transition. EVN also emphasized the importance of ensuring that all initiatives are compliant with Vietnamese laws, effective, sustainable, and in harmony with the Group’s long-term development strategy.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular exchanges and jointly develop a feasible cooperation roadmap based on shared priorities and complementary strengths.
