Chairman of EVN Board of Directors Dang Hoang An meets with German Ambassador to Vietnam

On the afternoon of May 28 in Hanoi, Mr. Dang Hoang An – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) – held a working session with Ms. Helga Margarete Barth, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam, to discuss orientations for enhancing future cooperation.

Also attending the meeting on behalf of EVN were Vice President Nguyen Xuan Nam and representatives from the corporation’s functional departments.

During the discussion, Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth expressed deep interest in Vietnam’s energy transition and praised EVN’s pivotal role in advancing sustainable energy development. She affirmed that Germany remains committed to supporting Vietnam in areas such as clean power generation, transmission infrastructure upgrades, and system stability through technical and financial assistance from German institutions.

The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of strengthening policy dialogue and technical exchange between stakeholders to overcome institutional and technical barriers in the implementation of ongoing initiatives and to explore expanded future cooperation.

Working session between EVN and German Ambassador to Vietnam

Mr. Dang Hoang An acknowledged and appreciated the consistent and effective support from the German Government and organizations such as KfW (German Development Bank) and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) for Vietnam’s power sector over the years.

Mr Dang Hoang An, amid Vietnam’s accelerated energy transition, EVN places great value on its partnerships with Germany, especially in fields such as renewable energy development, flexible power system solutions, and enhancing safe and efficient grid operations.

The EVN Chairman also shared several current challenges facing Vietnam’s energy transition, including the need for substantial investment, ensuring social security, and balancing economic development with emission reduction goals. On that basis, EVN expressed its desire to continue receiving support from Germany in developing comprehensive solutions tailored to Vietnam’s specific conditions.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular exchanges, reinforce coordination mechanisms, and advance cooperation initiatives aligned with Vietnam’s energy transition goals, toward the development of a modern and sustainable power system.
