EVN and Siemens discuss digital transformation and smart grid infrastructure development

On the afternoon of June 13 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), hosted a meeting with Mr. Peter Koerter, Member of the Managing Board, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Chief Strategy Officer of Siemens AG (Germany). The two sides discussed digital transformation solutions and the development of smart grid infrastructure.

Also joining the Siemens delegation were Mr. Pham Thai Lai – President and CEO of Siemens Vietnam, Singapore, and ASEAN, along with representatives of Siemens Ltd. Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mr. Peter Koerter emphasized that with the rapid increase in renewable energy sources, Vietnam’s power system management is facing new challenges. Therefore, investing in smart infrastructure, system simulation software, and automation solutions is essential to ensure safe, stable, and efficient grid operation.

Siemens expressed its continued commitment to sharing international experience and technical insights from global markets to support EVN in researching, evaluating, and implementing solutions aligned with the development of a smart grid.

The Siemens representatives also underlined the importance of establishing a solid legal framework and technical standards, considering these prerequisites for promoting sustainable energy development during the current energy transition phase.

On EVN’s side, President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan highly appreciated the longstanding and productive cooperation between EVN and Siemens. In the context of Vietnam’s power system shifting strongly towards a green, intelligent, and digitalized direction, EVN leadership affirmed its ongoing efforts to implement key projects aimed at modernizing the grid, optimizing operations, and gradually building a sustainable energy ecosystem.

Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest, especially digital transformation, smart grid development, renewable energy integration, and capacity building in system operation and management.
