Sharing with www.evn.com.vn from the project site, Mr. Nguyen Cao Ngoc - Deputy General Director of Song Da Construction and Services Joint Stock Company, representative of the contractor joint partnership, said that this result was achieved from the tireless efforts made by the joint venture contractor over the past 3 months, under the direction, care, and direct support from EVN leaders and Power Project Management Board No. 1 (EVNPMB1).

Package 1 of the project includes 51 pole locations, from VT1 to VT52, passing through Bao Yen and Bao Thang districts of Lao Cai province. The locations pass steep hills and narrow roads, many of which are inaccessible by motor vehicles. The weather in the Northwest mountainous region often changes suddenly, and heavy rains cause slippery conditions, hindering the transportation of materials and equipment.
The joint venture contractor has proactively developed a multi-layer construction plan, organizing different independent construction teams. Workers are arranged to have meals and rest near the construction site, minimizing travel time.

According to Mr. Do Quang Khai - Deputy Director of EVNPMB1, package 1 is in the group of 10 mixed packages of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project. This package was officially implemented on March 10, 2025. After less than 3 months, all excavation and foundation work of this package has been completed.

VT42 (Bao Yen district) is one of first poles erected on entire Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV line, since mid-April.
According to the assessment of EVNPMB1 leaders, the joint venture contractor of package 1 has maintained an urgent and "steady" construction pace at all 51 locations. The acceleration of package 1 has created a positive effect on the construction momentum of the entire project. "We consider this a typical example in construction to share experiences with other contractors", Mr. Do Quang Khai emphasized.
EVNPMB1 hopes that, with the progress and accumulated construction experience, the joint venture for package No. 1 will not only complete its work well but also be able to participate in supporting other packages in the next stage of pole erection and wire pulling, creating a common momentum for the entire project.
The Lao Cai – Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project consists of 468 locations, passing through 4 provinces, including Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc, with the starting point being the Lao Cai 500kV station and the ending point being the Vinh Yen 500kV station. The project is invested at a total amount of more than VND 7,410 billion.
After being put into operation, the 500kV line will be able to transmit power from hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighbouring provinces to the national grid and increase the capacity of importing electricity. At the same time, it will create a strong connection between regions in the power system; improve the capacity to operate safely and stably for the national power system; reduce power loss in the transmission grid; and increase the efficiency of EVN's electricity production and business.
