EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan meets with French Ambassador to Vietnam

On February 17, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, President and CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), met with Mr. Olivier Brochet, French Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Jean-Alexandre EGEA, Economic Counselor and Head of the French Economic Agency in Vietnam, along with a delegation from the French Embassy.

During the meeting, Mr. Jean-Alexandre EGEA expressed his pleasure at the strong and trusting cooperation between the French Embassy and EVN, as well as between Vietnam and France more broadly. He emphasized the importance of bilateral experience-sharing, which he believes will yield positive outcomes for EVN in its energy transition efforts in Vietnam.

The French Embassy expressed its interest in collaborating and sharing expertise with EVN in the field of nuclear energy. Given France’s extensive experience in managing and operating nuclear power plants efficiently over the long term, the French side hopes to contribute valuable insights to Vietnam’s energy sector.

In response, EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan extended his sincere gratitude to the French Embassy for its support. He also highlighted that the French Development Agency (AFD) has been designated as the primary financier for the Bac Ai Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant, Vietnam’s first-ever pumped storage hydropower project.

Regarding the Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Project, EVN is proceeding with the necessary procedures in accordance with regulations. The corporation highly values France’s expertise in nuclear power operations and is keen to receive further technical support and experience-sharing in this field.
