EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan meets with KEPCO leadership (Republic of Korea)

On the morning of April 22 in Hanoi, EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan received and held a working meeting with Mr. Kim Dong-choel – President and CEO of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). The meeting focused on cooperation orientations in areas such as power technologies, energy storage, power transmission, and the development of new power sources.

At the meeting, both sides reviewed the current status of EVN–KEPCO cooperation and discussed future coordination based on a newly signed memorandum of understanding. Key topics included the application of technologies in power plants, solutions for large-scale power transmission, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), experience in addressing financial pressures, as well as potential cooperation in nuclear power and energy transition.

On EVN’s side, President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan expressed interest in technologies supporting the management and operation of power systems, such as BESS management systems, underground cable fault detection, and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission.

According to EVN’s leadership, the Group is currently studying the development of energy storage systems while consulting relevant authorities to establish mechanisms and policies for this sector.

EVN also expressed its desire for KEPCO to continue sharing experience and consider investment opportunities in energy storage, thereby supporting financing arrangements for new projects.

 Both sides agreed to strengthen in-depth exchanges and leverage the existing cooperation foundation to enhance the effectiveness of collaboration in the coming period.

On the same morning, EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan also held a working meeting with representatives of Taihan Cable & Solution (Republic of Korea) to discuss cooperation in the field of power equipment and infrastructure.
