On the morning of October 30 in London, as part of the official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland by General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) held a signing and handover ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of energy and green grid development.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation. Mr. Dang Hoang An – Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVN – and a representative of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office formally exchanged the signed MoU on energy and green grid cooperation.
Within the framework of cooperation to implement the Political Declaration on establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in Vietnam, EVN and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of energy and green grid development. The MoU encompasses key areas such as leveraging the United Kingdom’s experience and EVN’s role in the national power system; accelerating the development of grid infrastructure as a foundation for clean electricity transmission – including high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems; supporting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at coal-fired power plants; and enhancing domestic capacity for offshore wind power development.
Prior to EVN’s signing of the MoU, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam had also signed a separate MoU with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
