After just over 6 months of construction, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) in coordination with related units has completed and successfully energized the key project of the Phu Binh 2 220kV Substation and the Phu Binh 2 220kV branch line from Thai Nguyen to Bac Giang.

Phu Binh 2 220kV Substation
At 8:30 p.m. on April 14, 2025, in Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province, the project was successfully energized, improving the power transmission capacity for the southern Thai Nguyen region and key industrial zones. This is also a key project to welcome the 4th Congress of the Vietnam Electricity Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.
The project construction commenced on September 4, 2024, with a total investment cost of over VND 559 billion. The 220kV Phu Binh 2 substation has a scale of installing 3 250MVA transformers, of which in phase 1, two 250MVA-220/110/22kV transformers have been installed. At the same time, a new 9.16 km double-circuit 220kV line has been built, connecting to the Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang 220kV transmission line.
The energization and operation of the project on schedule, ensuring quality, has promptly met the increasing demand for electricity in the area, especially in Phu Binh Industrial Park, industrial clusters, and neighboring medium-voltage loads. The project also contributes to strengthening grid connectivity, improving power quality for the 110kV grid, and ensuring safety and stability for the national power system.
