The Long Thanh 500kV Substation Project was built in Loc An commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, and was energized in 2022. The 220kV connection line is built in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province.

Long Thanh 500kV Substation scales a total capacity of 1,800MVA, the first phase will install transformers with a total capacity of 900MVA.

The 500kV side scales 08 feeders, this phase will install connection equipment for 04 feeders, and reserve locations for 04 feeders. The 220kV side scales 21 feeders, this phase will install equipment for 15 feeders, reserve locations for 06 feeders, and reserve locations for installing short-circuit current limiting resistors at the communication bays and feeders.

The 220kV connection line scales 04 circuits including 02 circuits to the Long Thanh 220kV Substation, 01 circuit to the High-tech Park 220kV Substation, and 01 circuit to the Nhon Trach Industrial Park 220kV Substation (Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant).

When completed, the project will help increase the power supply for the load in Dong Nai (Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, and Bien Hoa areas...), Ho Chi Minh City (Thu Duc and District 9 areas), and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. This is a special-class, group B energy project, invested by EVNNPT, managed by SPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company 4.
