Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant Project connected to national power grid

Recently, the Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant has successfully synchronized generating unit No. 1 with the national power grid. This important milestone serves as a basis for the contractor to continue testing to meet regulations, moving towards reliable unit operation, and putting the unit into official commercial operation in February 2025.

The Hau Giang Biomass Power Plant Project is invested by Hau Giang Biomass Energy Joint Stock Company (HBE), starting in December 2022, the plant is located in Thuan An commune, Long My town, Hau Giang province.

The power plant has a capacity of 2x10MW and uses rice husk as the main fuel. The plant will supply about 130 million kWh of energy to the system each year. Until now, this is the largest biomass power plant in the Mekong Delta. This power plant is funded by the Japanese government's JCM (joint credit mechanism) through the Global Environment Facility.

The EPC general contractor of the project is Power Engineering and Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC2).
