Ho Chi Minh City installs rooftop solar power systems in public offices

Recently, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued a Plan to implement the project to install rooftop solar power systems in the headquarters of administrative agencies, public service units, organizations, and units identified as public assets in Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, the targeted objects are public offices in the City including the headquarters of agencies of the Communist Party of Vietnam, state agencies, units of the people's armed forces, socio-political organizations under the management authority of the City; headquarters of central agencies in the City; Headquarters of public service units, headquarters of agencies and units are identified as public assets in the City.

The Department of Industry and Trade presides over and coordinates with relevant agencies and units to monitor the implementation of the Project in the City; taking the lead in the appraisal and approval of the project according to the centralized investment approach in accordance with the law on construction investment; Guiding agencies and units on electrical safety requirements of rooftop solar power systems. At the same time, DOIT leads and coordinates with relevant departments, agencies, and units to advise on contents related to the arrangement of investment budget and estimation of investment costs; Handling materials, equipment, and waste generated during rooftop solar power operations; Ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety when installing rooftop solar power systems; Receiving and handling documents for solar power system investment projects at the headquarters of administrative agencies, public service units, and headquarters of organizations and units identified as public assets in the City.

Agencies and units that are owners or are assigned to manage and use the headquarters of public service units and headquarters of agencies and units identified as public assets in the City must organize and deploy investment in building rooftop solar power systems according to the Project to ensure the goal that by 2028, at least 50% of office buildings will have rooftop solar power systems installed to contribute to ensuring electricity supply and electricity saving.
