Increasing capacity of Nha Be 220kV Substation (Ho Chi Minh City) to 750MVA

The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the National Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) in coordination with relevant units successfully energized the 3rd transformer of Nha Be 220kV Substation at 05:47 on December 30, thereby increasing the substation’s capacity from 500MVA to 750MVA.
Previously, on December 25, 2024, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tan – EVNNPT Vice President and Chairman of the Investor-level Acceptance Council chaired the meeting of the Acceptance Council. The members of the Council agreed to energize the project.
The project scales installing 01 transformer (AT3) 220/110/22kV-250MVA to increase the total capacity of Nha Be 220kV Substation to 3x250MVA. During the implementation of the project, many difficulties were encountered such as the ground of Nha Be 220kV Substation being narrow, the AT1 and AT2 transformers are always in high load, making it difficult to de-energize for construction, and so on.
The completion of the project helps reduce the load and avoid overloading of the AT1 and AT2 transformers of the station, ensuring a safe and continuous power supply for Ho Chi Minh City and its vicinity to serve the socio-economic development, ensure the national defense and security, and attract investment.
