According to Mr. Do Thanh Tai - Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board No. 2 (EVNPMB2), the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project (QTTPP1) continues to maintain an urgent and drastic construction pace. As of May 16, the overall progress of the project has reached 90.87%.

Of which, the design work has been completed 99%, the equipment procurement work has reached 98.05%, the construction and installation work has reached 76.25%, and the initial testing and calibration work has reached 3.4%.

Notably, key technical milestones continue to be completed on schedule. The project successfully energized the main transformer on April 29, 2025, and produced demineralized water from May 10, 2025. These are two key conditions to prepare for the commissioning and operating phase of Generating Unit 1.

The construction force was maximally mobilized, and many items were deployed continuously in three shifts per day. EVNPMB2 proactively reviewed the overall progress of the project, focusing on prioritizing the construction of key items such as the cooling water system, the water channels, the water treatment area, and the main pipelines. Procedures related to equipment import and material clearance were also drastically implemented by the unit to shorten the waiting time, making up for the delayed work.

Along with accelerating construction, EVNPMB2 is also actively preparing for the operation phase. To date, the project has completed nearly 60% of its personnel recruitment plan. The first training session was conducted at Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant (Binh Thuan) and completed in January 2025. The second session is taking place at the construction site, focusing on two main groups: equipment operation and repair. This is an important preparation step to ensure that the operating apparatus is ready to receive the plant as soon as it is put into use.

Safety, health, and environment (HSE) is always a top priority. The project has organized more than 44,000 safety training sessions in 20 specific work areas. To date, the project has achieved over 13 million safe working hours and has not had any environmental incidents during construction.

When put into operation, Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant will supplement a significant amount of power to the national power system, making an important contribution to ensuring national energy security, while promoting socio-economic development in the Central region.
