Strengthening measures to protect power grid safety corridor in Bac Kan
14:38, 11/03/2025
With its complex mountainous terrain and many residential areas located near high-voltage power lines, protecting the power grid safety corridor in Bac Kan has become increasingly urgent.
Currently, the province has over 2,000km of high-voltage power lines, including more than 172km of 110kV lines and over 1,800km of 22kV and 35kV lines. These power lines pass through numerous residential and mountainous areas, increasing the risk of safety corridor violations and electrical incidents. Every year, many locations in the province have trees at risk of falling onto power lines, potentially affecting the electrical system.

Workers in Bac Kan City Power Company regularly inspect and clear vegetation to protect the power grid safety corridor
The power sector has implemented warning signs in high-risk areas, conducting inspections to promptly detect and address violations. For serious infractions, the unit collaborates with local authorities to ensure thorough resolution. Measures include clearing vegetation within and around the power corridor to prevent tree falls, relocating certain power line sections to avoid high-risk areas, increasing conductor sag height and replacing bare conductors with insulated ones to reduce the risk of electrical discharge, and installing additional protective equipment such as offset cross-arms and safety warning systems.
Thanks to these drastic efforts, in 2024 and early 2025, Bac Kan PC has significantly reduced the number of power line corridor violations, addressing 100% of the identified violations as planned. Additionally, high-pressure water insulation cleaning has been carried out in 463 cleaning sessions, contributing to improved power grid operation quality.
Strengthening the protection of the power grid safety corridor not only minimizes incidents and ensures a stable power supply but also contributes to the province's sustainable socio-economic development.
