Yen Bai PC currently manages and operates over 420km of 110kV transmission lines, nearly 2,300km of medium-voltage lines, and approximately 2,525km of low-voltage lines. To ensure a safe and continuous power supply while minimizing incidents related to the power grid corridor, Yen Bai PC has implemented various critical measures. However, safety violations within the power corridor remain complex, posing significant risks and leading to severe electrical incidents.
Notably, trees outside the corridor are at risk of falling onto power lines, construction activities, land leveling, tree trimming near power lines, and kite flying or unidentified objects entangling in the lines have become increasingly common. Specifically, in 2024, the province recorded 43 incidents of trees falling onto power lines (5.26%), 72 cases of branches, kites, or unidentified objects contacting power lines (8.8%), 80 cases of animal intrusion (9.78%), and 5 incidents involving vehicles colliding with power lines (0.61%). Violations related to the power corridor accounted for 24.45% of all incidents, causing substantial damage and affecting more than 320,687 customers.

Power Company personnel regularly inspect substations to ensure safe and stable power supply
Given the damages and disruptions caused by power corridor violations, Yen Bai PC has implemented multiple solutions to swiftly restore the grid and resolve issues. In areas affected by falling tree-related incidents, the company has deployed personnel to clear the site and trim trees to prevent recurrence. Besides, the company has strengthened inspection and monitoring activities using modern equipment such as drones, combined with regular corridor inspections to detect and address potential hazards early.
In particular, Yen Bai PC also prioritizes close coordination with local governments at the commune, district, and provincial levels to enhance public awareness and encourage community involvement in protecting the power grid corridor. Grid operation units actively mobilize residents to trim and clear the power corridor; Actively coordinate with commune, village, and hamlet authorities to carry out multiple awareness campaigns on protecting the power grid corridor, especially in remote areas where the grid mainly passes through hills and forests with dense vegetation.
According to Mr. Cao Binh Dinh – Director of Yen Bai PC, "In 2024, our units conducted 6,441 inspection and clearance sessions along the power corridor. Among them, the units that actively implemented the task include Yen Bai City Power with 1,449 work sessions, Van Yen Power with 955 work sessions, and Nghia Lo Power with 942 work sessions…. In addition, Yen Bai PC has directed its units to integrate the resolution of violation points and potential risks while implementing basic construction projects, major repairs, and routine power grid maintenance. Measures include relocating power lines, increasing pole heights, and replacing bare conductors with insulated cables. As a result, there are currently no cases of residential buildings or structures violating the power grid corridor.”
To further enhance the effectiveness of power grid corridor protection, Yen Bai PC aims to implement a comprehensive set of solutions in 2025. Additionally, the company will intensify public awareness campaigns to improve people's understanding of power grid corridor safety, especially in remote and mountainous areas. Furthermore, the application of digital technology in corridor management and monitoring will be strengthened through the use of drones (flycams) and GIS software.
Furthermore, Yen Bai PC will collaborate closely with local authorities to address violations, remove hazardous obstructions, and ensure power grid safety and stable power supply across the entire area.
