Ambassador of Finland works with the Central Power Corporation

Recently, in Da Nang City, Mr. Ngo Tan Cu - General Director of Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) welcomed and worked with Mr. Kari Kahiluoto - Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam.

Mr. Ngo Tan Cu - General Director of EVNCPC said that preferential credits from the Government of Finland have made great contribution to investing in modernizing the grid of EVNCPC, reducing the risk of electric accidents for operating workers as well as improving the power supply reliability for customers.

The total concessional loan financed by the Government of Finland to EVNCPC is currently 15.6 million EURO. Typical projects using this capital source are miniSCADA ones in the cities of Hue, Da Nang, Quy Nhon and Buon Ma Thuot; MiniSCADA/DMS projects of Tam Ky City and Pleiku City.

In the future, EVNCPC wishes to expand and upgrade the grid system in line with the increasing demand for electricity from customers. EVNCPC wishes to continue receiving support from the Embassy of Finland to seek for preferential funding. 

Mr. Ngo Tan Cu also informed the Ambassador of Finland about the development of renewable energy sources in the Central - Highlands region. Specifically, as of 4 June 2020, in this area, 23 solar and wind power plants have been put into operation (connected to 110kV or less) with a total capacity of 793MW; 4 biomass power plants with a total capacity of 114.6MW. In addition, there are 13 wind and solar power projects are under implementation, expected to be energized in 2020 with a total capacity of 431MW.

In the period 2021 - 2025, the total capacity of renewable energy sources in this area is expected to put into operation at about 23,761MW. Up to now, the number of customers registering to install the rooftop solar power system has reached nearly 1,300 MW.

During the meeting, the two sides also agreed to organize a renewable energy workshop so as for businesses from Finland to present their products and solutions. Thereby, it will open up opportunities for cooperation between these businesses and EVNCPC in the future.
