EVN’s President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan delivered a speech at Uong Bi Thermal Power Company
Mr. Nguyen Huu Thinh, General Director of Power Generation Corporation No.1 (EVNGENCO 1) said that in the first 7 months of 2019, the Corporation and its member units have operated power plants and basically met requirements of the power system.
Specifically, Uong Bi Thermal Power Company (with a total capacity of 660MW) produced 2.53 billion kWh, achieving 72% of the planned target.
Quang Ninh 1 and 2 thermal power plants (with a total capacity of 1,200MW) generated 4.42 billion kWh, or 57.3% of the 2019 plan. However, both companies have faced difficulties in fuel supply for electricity generation.
As for Uong Bi Thermal Power Company, the daily coal supply does not meet the registered demand, the company thus is exposed to a threat of shutting down their power units if additional coal sources are not available.
As for Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company, since the coal supplier cannot supply the right coal type as required, Quang Ninh 1 and 2 thermal power plants are using a variety of coal types and sources, the operation of boilers therefore is unstable, leading to higher coal consumption rate and higher heat loss of power units.

EVN’s President and CEO Tran Dinh Nhan directed EVNGENCO 1 and the two companies to actively work with relevant partners; regularly report to the Group on coal delivery and consumption situation; keep on promoting the application of science and technology advances and develop an optimal operating regime to suit various coal sources.
At the same time, it is necessary to improve labor productivity and production - business efficiency, paying much attention to the execution of environmental protection solutions during plant operation.
