Benefits of the model
At the beginning of 2019, Phu Yen Power Company has cooperated with the Central Power Electronic Measurement Equipment producing Center (Central Power Corporation) to install solar power systems free of charge for Hoa Binh 1 Primary School (Hoa Binh 1 commune, Tay Hoa district). The system consists of 12 solar panels with a total installed capacity of 4.32kWp and a total cost of more than VND 120 million.
According to Principal Nguyen Hong, in the past, the average power cost of the School was about VND1.5 to 2 million/ month. Since receiving the free installation of solar power system (producing nearly 30 kWh/ day), the school only had to pay about VND 500,000/ month, saving more than 60% of power cost.
In addition to saving power cost, there are also sightseeing sessions, helping the students to know about the solar power system. The school also welcomed many parents as well as representatives of other schools in the province to visit the system.

Replication of the model
Hoa Binh 1 Primary School is one of 6 schools in the Central Region selected by the Central Power Corporation to provide the free installation of solar power system. All these schools are in remote areas and not connected to national and regional power grids and power can possibly be cut off in the rainy season.
According to Mr. Thai Minh Chau, Director of Phu Yen Power Company: “Through this project, we would really like to encourage many institutions, organizations and individuals to actively invest in solar power systems, adding new sources of energy, contributing to reducing the power supply pressure on the power sector, especially during the peak of summer"
Currently, the fee installation of solar power systems is in decline. In addition, the pricing mechanism of solar power has been revised, creating many advantages for the people. Specifically, the power price will be calculated by two-way manner, delivery and receipt. Currently, in Phu Yen province, many households and companies have been installing solar power systems to serve their needs while reselling excess power load to the power sector.
