According to Mr. Truong Hoang Vu – General Director of EVNGENCO 2, since the beginning of the year, EVNGENCO 2’s oil-fired thermal power units have been mobilized with a produced power output of 342 million kWh. It is expected that in the last months of 2019 and the whole year of 2020, costly oil-fired power generation will continue to be mobilized due to the difficulties in other types of power sources (poor inflow of water into hydropower reservoirs, decline in production fuels of coal-fired and gas-fired thermal power).
However, high-quality FO oil source with a sulfur content of 3% being used for oil-fired power plants of EVNGENCO 2 is not a common item for industrial production in Vietnam market. Therefore, the availability of large quantities of the suppliers is very low.
At the meeting with partners recently, EVNGENCO 2 suggested that oil suppliers continue to coordinate closely with, ensuring sufficient supply of oil with stable quality for power production in the last 6 months of 2019 and the time to come.

Several suppliers recommended that EVNGENCO 2 should develop a plan of oil consumption and give a notice of at least 1 month in advance so as for them to supply large quantities of oil for power production. At the same time, it is recommended that EVNGENCO 2 consider and study the plan of using FO oil with adjusted parameters on sulfur content, calorific value, etc., to facilitate the oil supply.

EVNGENCO 2 and partners discussed solutions to diversify the reserves of oil exporters in the region and ensure oil quality in accordance with the technical requirements of the plant. In addition, specifying the consumption plan, the time and supply capacity of each supplier are also very important factors.
EVNGENCO 2 will continue to work with suppliers to come up with an optimal plan of oil mobilization.
