VAE, KEIDA in cooperation with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), PetroVietnam (PVN) and Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) co-hosted the seminar.
At the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Vy – Vice Chairman of Vietnam Energy Association said that this seminar was an opportunity for Vietnam to absorb, exchange and learn from experiences and good practices of international partners in order to boost application of new technologies in developing power grids and generations, in which utilization of renewable energy sources were encouraged in the lights of environmental protection, national energy security and sustainable development.
A lot of new technologies were introduced at the seminar, which had been successfully developed and adopted in South Korea, ESS – Energy Storage System is one of those technologies. Accordingly, ESS has gradually become an essential technology applicable in various fields such as demand side management, renewable energy development and smart grids, etc.; and many more application forms have been being developed in order to promote economical and efficient energy use in this country.
According to the revised Master Plan for National Power Development No. 7, renewable energy has been steadily representing an increasing proportion in the power generation mix of Vietnam (accounting for 9.9% of the total installed capacity by the year 2020 and 21% by the year 2030).
