Cao Bang: 100% of the communes connected to the national power grid

By energizing the project for power supply from the national grid to Son Lap commune (Bao Lac district) on January 7, Cao Bang Power Company (under EVNNPC) completed connecting the national power grid to the last commune of Cao Bang province.

With the total investment costs of VND 23.8 billion, the project for power supply to Son Lap commune comprises: construction of 6.7 km new medium voltage 35 kV power line; 3 substations with the total capacity of 300 kVA; nearly 9.4 km low voltage line.

The area of Son Lap commune is more than 4,000 ha, situated in the south of Bao Lac district, 140 km far from Cao Bang city. The population there is composed of mostly Mong, Dao, Tay, Nung ethnic minority people, etc. with modest intellectual level in general and backward manners and customs. Most of the households in the commune are classified as poor or near-poor category. In particular, because the terrain is scattered by high mountains, the traffic there is very difficult.

Connection to the national power grid of Son Lap commune is of special importance for promoting their indigenous socio-economic development and improvement of social political and cultural perception of the native people. The project displays the concerns of the Party, the State, Cao Bang district and the power sector about ethnic minority communities residing in remote mountainous regions and very difficult regions.
