Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors Dang Hoang An chairing meeting on construction site about project implementation situation
Chairing the meeting on the construction site, Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors Dang Hoang An emphasized the importance of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion project. EVN leader also noted that construction site progress has been pushed higher in recent months.
The expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant project is located on the right bank of the existing Hoa Binh Hydropower dam in Phuong Lam ward, Hoa Binh city, Hoa Binh province. The 480MW capacity project is invested by EVN. The project was started in January 2021 with the expected progress of generating power for Unit 1 and Unit 2 in June-July 2025. The project is invested and constructed to increase the peak capacity of the national power system, exploiting the maximum annual excess water discharge during the flood season of the existing Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant to generate electricity. The work improves the frequency regulation and frequency stability of the national power system, contributing to reducing operating costs of the national power system, while reducing the working intensity of existing generating units, thereby extending the life of the equipment and saving maintenance and repair costs.
