Communication activities should be promoted to gain customers’ understanding of and consensus with the demand response program

This was the direction of EVN’s Vice President Vo Quang Lam at the Video conference on implementing the Demand Response Program under Decision No. 175/QD-BCT dated January 28, 2019 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Video conference took place on February 12, 2019, with the participation of leaders of EVN’s functional departments, leaders of power corporations, National Load Dispatch Center, from 4 main locations at EVN’s Headquarters, the Southern Power Corporation, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, and the Central Power Corporation.

According to Decision No. 175/QD-BCT dated January 28, 2019, the establishment and implementation of the Demand Response Program (DR) aims to optimize production and business activities of power corporations and power companies, contributing to ensuring electricity supply, improving power quality and reliability of power supply, improving customer service quality, contributing to environmental protection and socio-economic development, enhancing the overall economic efficiency of the power system associated with sustainable development.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dung – Director of EVN’s Business Department said that, in 2019 EVN would communicate about the demand response program for about 5,000 industrial and commercial customers, customers using three-tariff meters; for implementing a non-commercial DR program, striving to achieve a target of 100MW saving.

At the Conference, representatives of power corporations stated that in order to implement the demand response program, the power corporations had studied and identified groups of potential customers for participating in the DR program at the peak hour frame. At the same time, they have developed human resource training plans, prepared software and tools to support the program implementation. The power corporations have promoted and encouraged the development of rooftop solar PV installations in their service areas.

EVN’s functional departments and relevant organizations will urgently and seriously complete software to support the program implementation; at the same time, they will improve the capacity of forecasting load demand; calculate and determine the volume and capacity of loads in these corporations that need to be adjusted in 2019 and in the future.
