Construction deployment of Phong Tho 220kV substation (Lai Chau)

The Northern Viet Nam Power Projects Management Board (NPMB) has deployed the construction of the "Phong Tho 220kV substation" project in Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province. This is one of the activities to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the Vietnamese Power Sector's Traditional Day (21 December 1954 – 21 December 2021).

NPMB deploys construction of Phong Tho 220kV substation

Phong Tho 220kV substation is a grade 1, group B energy project with a capacity of 2x250MVA, invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT). The Northern Viet Nam Power Project Management Board (NPMB) manages and implements the project. The project has a total investment of more than VND 400 billion and is expected to be completed and energized in 2022.

The project is implemented to ensure the capacity releasing of hydropower plants in Phong Tho district in particular and in the northeast of Lai Chau province in general.

In addition, the project also supports and reduces the load for Than Uyen 220kV substation and 220kV transformer at Lai Chau 500kV substation. The project also creates a solid link between the load areas in the power system, increases the safe and stable operation of the national power system, and significantly limits capacity loss in the transmission grid.
