The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kari Kahiluoto - Republic of Finland’s Ambassador in Viet Nam, Mr. Thomas Schuller Gotzburg - Republic of Austria’s Ambassador to Viet Nam, Ms. Grete Lochen - Acting Ambassador of Norway to Viet Nam, and Ambassadors of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, etc.
For international and domestic credit institutions, there were Mr. Ousmane Dione - Country Director of the World Bank in Viet Nam, Ms. Simone Wunsch - Country Director of KfW Development Bank (KfW) in Viet Nam, together with leaders of AFD, JICA, JBIC, ADB, representatives of the State Bank of Viet Nam and some commercial banks attending at the ceremony.
EVN was also honoured to welcome representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Office of the Government, Ministry of Industry and Trade and other Ministries and Branches at this event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of EVN’s Member Council Duong Quang Thanh would like to sincerely thank the support by the Government, Ministries, Departments, Sectors, domestic and foreign partners, sponsors, banks and credit organizations for the group’s successes in 2018. Particularly, embassies have formed a sound bridge to help the group promote the effectiveness of international cooperation.
In 2018, EVN overfulfilled the plan assigned by the Government, ensuring adequate power supply for socio-economic development and people’s living activities with a growth rate of 10.36%. The group’s business was profitable, fulfilling obligations to the state. Viet Nam’s power system scale has currently ranked 2nd in Southeast Asia and 23rd in the world. The group has supplied power from the national grid to 100% of communes and over 99% of rural households, and 11/12 island districts of the country.
The Access-to-electricity index of Viet Nam has increased by 37 levels, ranking 27/190 countries and economies in the world and made it the top 4 ASEAN two years ahead of the Government’s target.

EVN has also provided level-4 electricity services - the highest level, meeting 100% of online services as per requests by customers and become the first infrastructure enterprise in Viet Nam reaching Level 4 in customer service supply. These are typical positive signals to respond to the Prime Minister’s call on applying Industrial Revolution 4.0 into real life.
Particularly, in the financial area, the group is assessed at the credit rank of BB - equal to the national credit rank, helping EVN to approach the international capital market, meeting development needs in the future.
In 2019, EVN selects the topic for the year: “Improving operation efficiency of power system and electricity market”. Chairman of EVN’s Member Council emphasized: With the spirit of sharing, innovation and cooperation, we would like to consolidate and strengthen cooperation and support relationships of relevant parties together with EVN to properly implement our task of ensuring power supply for the country in the coming time, striving to strongly develop the group to Top 4 ASEAN.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ousmane Dione - Country Director of the World Bank in Viet Nam affirmed that Viet Nam had become an example of global success for developing the Power sector over the past few decades, when supplying power to most households nationwide, implementing the reforms fo the sector and forming competition to promote the participation of the private sector.
The World Bank’s Country Director in Viet Nam emphasized that EVN had used financial and technical support from partners in an really effective manner to implement the program of rural electrification, upgrade and expand the network of backbone power distribution and transmission, develop power source projects and implement the program on restructuring, reforming the Power sector as initiated by the Government, etc.
Recognizing that Viet Nam’s Power sector will face many challenges in the coming time such as: Meeting the increasing demand for energy while meeting the targets of reducing greenhouse gas emissions; mobilizing large financial resources (about USD 8 billion per year) to invest in power source, etc., Mr. Ousmane Dione affirmed that the World Bank and development partners were ready to adequately support EVN in exploiting opportunities and address challenges to ensure better energy supply for Viet Nam.
