The meeting was connected online to the Power Corporations/Power Companies in 63 provinces/cities across the country.
The localities’ Departments of Tourism; Culture, Sports and Tourism; Departments of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism also attended the meeting at the Power Corporations/Power Companies’ offices.

During the implementation of reduction, Power Corporations/Power companies faces difficulties in identifying tourist accommodation establishments pursuant to the 2017 Tourism Law. At the meeting, the National Administration of Tourism and EVN provided gave answers to the Power Corporations/Power companies and related Departments in order to ensure the proper implementation of reducing electricity price for the right subjects in accordance with the requirements.
Mr. Vo Quang Lam – EVN’s Deputy General Director affirmed that, in the spirit of supporting businesses to overcome the difficulties caused by COVID-19, EVN is about to create all necessary conditions to support the electricity price reduction for tourist accommodation establishments who fully provide documents as prescribed. Mr. Vo Quang Lam required Power Corporations/ Power Companies to directly contact the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism for attaining answers and solutions if they face problems in the coming time.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong - Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism highly appreciated EVN's proactiveness in promptly solving problems for businesses who are entitled to the Government's policy on reducing electricity price.
As of 28 May 2020, EVN has reduced the electricity bills of more than 27.1 million customers, with a total amount of over VND 3,377 billion discounted; of which 6,126 customers run tourist accommodation establishments with the discounted sum of more than VND 85.7 billion for electricity bills.
Based on Document No. 566/TCDL-KS, dated 20 May 2020 issued by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on guidance on reducing electricity prices for tourist accommodation establishments:
Tourist accommodation establishments mentioned in Article 48 of the 2017 Tourism Law shall submit an application form for such reduction to the local power authority. The document shall include:
- Business registration certificate shall be in accordance with the legal requirements.
- A copy of the certificate showing eligibility of security and social order conditions to invest in and provide the accommodation services.
- A copy of the decision on rank recognition of tourist accommodation establishment issued by a competent authority (valid or expired) or a copy of a written notification to the state management authority of tourism before the establishment launches its operation in compliance with the Government's regulations.
