The program for assisting social security and tackling flooding consequences for the affected people due to floods initiated by the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ngai province has received more than VND 8.2 billion from organizations, corporations and sponsors all over the country. Of which, EVN itself donated VND 2 billion.
In the floods at the end of 2016, nearly 210 houses in the whole province suffered severe damages and impacts and must be removed, more than 28,500 houses were inundated deeply, nearly 6000 hectare of rice fields and farm produces were damaged entirely, etc. The total damages were estimated at nearly VND 900 billion.
At the ceremony, Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Tran Tuan Anh and Secretary of the Party Provincial Committee of Quang Ngai province Mr. Le Viet Chu handed the donation amount to 20 households whose houses were entirely damaged and must be removed due to landslides in the recent floods in 7 districts, towns in Quang Ngai province, of which each household was aided VND 40 million. Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, EVN’s Chairman of Board of Directors representing EVN’s employees donated VND 2 billion.
In addition, the Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ngai province and the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ngai province drew VND 1 billion out of the donation sum to donate 2000 presents (VND 500,000 per each) to the flooding affected people in 14 districts and towns. The remaining amount will be kept by the Province Fatherland Front Committee to continue being allocated to poor, affected households due to the recent floods in the coming time.
