The signing of PPAs took place within the framework of the 42nd meeting of Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee. This event marked a significant step forward in friendly relations between the two countries, especially in the field of energy cooperation.
EVN signed five PPAs (selling power energy to Vietnam) with two large hydropower investors of Laos, the Phongsubthavy Group and the Chealun Sekong Group.
Specifically, EVN signed with Phongsubthavy Group PPAs from Nam San 3A and Nam San 3B hydropower plants.
At the same time, EVN signed with Chealun Sekong Group the PPAs from Nam Emoun, Nam Kong 2 and Nam Kong 3 hydropower plants.
The policy of purchasing power from the above-mentioned hydropower plants has been approved by the Prime Minister in 2019. The negotiation of PPAs was under the direction and guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
