EVN works with People's Committee of Da Nang City on situation of power supply, power saving, and power development work

On May 10, in Da Nang City, a working delegation of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) led by EVN’s Vice President Nguyen Tai Anh had a working session with the People's Committee of Da Nang City on the situation of power supply, implementation of power saving in 2024 and development of power grid infrastructure in the city.

Regarding the power supply situation, the average growth of commercial electricity output of the city in the period 2021-2023 is 8.27%/year. Commercial electricity in 2023 will reach 3.4 billion kWh, an increase of 13.14% compared to that of the previous year.

Through the first 4 months of 2024, the cumulated commercial electricity reached 1,045.9 million kWh, an increase of 15.8% over the same period in 2023. Of which: 3 components account for the main proportion in the load structure: Consumption Management usage accounted for 40.84%, an increase of 17.72%; Industry - construction accounts for 32.29%, increasing at 8.07% and Commerce - hotels - restaurants accounts for 21.03%, increasing at 28.84% over the same period in 2023.

In recent years, the Electricity industry has paid great attention and made efforts to invest and ensure power supply in Da Nang city - the central city of the Central-Central Highlands region. Specifically, in the period 2021 - 2023, EVN has completed 500-220kV transmission grid projects, EVNCPC completed 18 projects with a total increased scale of 32.8km of lines, 611 MVA substations; Da Nang PC invested in completing 272 medium and low-voltage grid projects with a total increase of 1,234 km of medium and low-voltage lines; 390 MVA substations.

For the preparation of power supply in the dry season of 2024, Da Nang PC has established methods to operate the power system, strengthen inspection, maintenance, and repair of the power grid, ensuring grid safety corridor. In addition, Da Nang PC has implemented power demand management, focusing on implementing 3 contents: Demand response (DR); load shifting agreement, and electricity saving work.

During the dry season months of 2024, nationwide electricity demand is expected to increase; EVN leaders requested the People's Committee of Da Nang City to strengthen propaganda and mobilization of people, businesses, and public offices and agencies to increase the application of electricity-saving solutions to use electricity economically and effectively under the direction of the Prime Minister specified in Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023.

In addition, EVN and EVNCPC leaders also requested the People's Committee of Da Nang City to direct departments, branches, and localities to coordinate with the Electricity sector in planning the implementation of Power Development Plan VIII and have a mechanism to make it convenient during deployment; support compensation and site clearance, ensuring sufficient land fund for power projects to carry out investment according to approved planning; support to speed up investment policy approval procedures for power projects in the city.

Regarding EVN's proposals to support the implementation of power grid projects, the City People's Committee pledged to focus on directing relevant departments and agencies to promote coordination with EVN and member units to promptly remove obstacles in the investment and construction process of power projects in a spirit of determination, flexibility, and compliance with legal regulations; closely coordinate with the Electricity sector to plan the implementation of Power Development Plan VIII; all for the target of building an increasingly-developed Da Nang city.
