A worker from Van Ban Power Company energizing the substation
Ta Moong is a village in a remote and extremely poor area of Nam Chay commune, the majority in which are H'mong people. Previously, people in the village used micro hydro, which were self-engineered and self-built installations, so power quality was unstable, and the power could be maintained only at a minimal use of lighting. Without power supply from the national power grid meant economic development was facing many difficulties, and the percentage of poor households was very high.
Delivering power to Ta Moong had a special meaning, meeting the expectations of people who were long waiting for the light from the national power grid. Power would increase production and improve economic conditions.
With electricity, people could listen to the radio, watch television to understand more clearly the policies of the Party and the State ... This is also one of the conditions for the locality to complete the electricity criteria in the national criteria set for a new countryside.
It is known that Ta Moong 2 substation is part of a power supply expansion project to the communes of Tham duong and Nam Chay, Van Ban district, and invested by Lao Cai Power Company, with construction scale of 13.65km of 35kV power line, five 35/0.4kV substations, 4.3 km of low voltage power line, with a total investment of VND12.9 billion. Up to now, 3/5 substations have been energized, the remaining two substations will be energized by the end of October 2020.
