Sharing experiences
In 2009, Chau Doc - Ta Keo 220 kV transmission line came into operation. This was also the first time Cambodia had operated a 220 kV transmission line.
From 2009 to October 2017, thanks to the enthusiastic support of PTC 4, through study tours, exchange of lessons and experiences, technical assistances, technology transfers, instructions on maintenance, repair, experiment and adjustment of high voltage equipment, replacement of spare parts, etc. the Cambodian Power Transmission Company has been growing, gaining valuable experiences, and operating the transmission line successfully.
Mr. Mak Thorn – Deputy Director of Cambodian Power Transmission Company recalled: "Once, a transformer in our substation No. 1 broke down and we called PTC 4 to ask for help. Immediately, PTC 4 dispatched a task force coming to help us. Within less than a week, the transformer was restored and reenergized. "

Collaborative protection of the power line
The Chau Doc - Cambodia 220 kV transmission line is 26 km long, most of which runs through rice fields with numerous canals. Therefore, the operation, maintenance and repair, etc. of the power line face many difficulties. This is a backbone supplying electricity to Cambodia, requiring very high safety, stability and reliability levels. To perform the work, PTC 4 regularly cooperated with policemen, border guards and local people in the border areas of Vietnam and Cambodia, especially the Cambodian Power Transmission Company to implement a lot of communication programs, as well as patrolling to safeguard the line.
The two companies frequently coordinate, enhance periodic inspections of equipment in two feeders supplying electricity to Cambodia, collaborate well in planned power outages for periodic maintenance of the power line and feeder equipment in Chau Doc 220 kV substation and Ta Keo 220 kV substation; periodically measuring temperatures of joints on the line; frequently measuring and monitoring the distance from phase lines to the water surface during the flood season.
Annually, the two companies hold meetings to summarize, discuss and exchange experiences in operating the power transmission line, informing about the development of power grids and additional loads in the areas adjacent to Chau Doc - Ta Keo transmission line.
The two companies cooperate in providing accurate and complete operational data to all levels; sending staff to do meter readings at the boundary; providing operational parameters in a systematic way, ensuring the safe operation of power grid, etc. As a result, the electricity exchanged every year accounts for a significant proportion in the Cambodia's generation mixture, helping the country stabilize its electricity supply and serve the socio - economic development.
From 2009 to June 2017, the power transmission system from Vietnam to Cambodia has always ensured the safe and stable electricity supply for Cambodia with the output of 7.88 billion kWh, helping Cambodia to stabilize its electricity supply and develop the socio – economy. |
