Only 15 days after being approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 165/QD-TTg, the Industry and Trade sector officially implemented Vietnam's hydrogen energy development strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2050 (Hydrogen energy strategy).
The hydrogen energy strategy approved by the Prime Minister opens up new development space for Vietnam's energy industry in a green, clean, and sustainable direction, in accordance with the views and policies of the Party and State as well as the general development trend of the world.
The target set out in the hydrogen energy strategy is to develop Vietnam's hydrogen energy ecosystem based on renewable energy, including production, storage, transportation, distribution, domestic use, and export with synchronous and modern infrastructure to contribute to ensuring energy security, implementing national targets on climate change, green growth, and net zero emissions by 2050 according to Vietnam's roadmap and commitment to sustainable, equitable and just energy transition.

These are also major targets of the country's development not only in the green transition process but also in the trust and expectations placed on the shoulders of the Industry and Trade sector. And with that meaning, the implementation of this extremely important Strategy is also a major march of the Industry and Trade sector.
This is the first time in the history of energy development, that Vietnam has deployed a hydrogen energy strategy with the implementation of a series of new mechanisms and policies, including diversifying capital sources, and investment forms, and attracting investment interest from non-state enterprises and support from international partners; Increasing investment in science and technology, human resource development; Applying market tools to promote green growth, low-carbon economy, and circular economy; Prioritizing promotion of international cooperation and communication work to raise awareness of the benefits of the hydrogen economy and the State's guidelines and policies in the field of clean energy to the entire society.
In particular, the time from approval to implementation was accelerated in a record short time, within just 15 days. From there, Vietnam becomes one of the first 40 countries in the world to approve this strategy to gradually replace fossil fuel sources in the future.
At the recent Hydrogen Energy Strategy Implementation Conference, a top important requirement in strategy implementation was emphasized by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, which is that functional units of The Ministry of Industry and Trade need to make efforts and focus on good communication and widespread dissemination of the role, importance and core contents of the strategy; Urgently advise on the development and submission to competent authorities for promulgation of specific Plans to implement the targets and solutions set out in the Strategy; coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to focus on research and advise competent authorities to promulgate relevant regulations, mechanisms and policies, and monitor and urge the implementation of hydrogen energy projects.
