My Tho 500kV Substation increased its capacity to 1,800MVA

On 29 May 2020, the Southern Power Project Management Board (SPMB) collaborated with related units to organize the energizing AT2 500kV-900MVA transformer at My Tho 500kV substation, raising the total capacity of this substation up to 1,800MVA.

The Installation project of second Transformer at My Tho 500kV Substation is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), and managed by SPMB. Power Transmission Company No. 4 takes over and manages the operation when the project is completed. The project is invested with the scale of installing 500/220/ 35kV - 900MVA transformers, which is connected to a complex of 3 single-phase transformers, capacity of 300MVA. After being completed in construction work contributes to reduce the load for the substation's AT1 transformer, as well as 500kV transformers in the area (O Mon, Nha Be and Phu Lam). At the same time, releasing the capacity of the power centers in the Southwest region (Duyen Hai and O Mon). The project was commenced on 24 August 2018, at the existing My Tho 500kV Substation in Diem Hy Commune, Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province.
