In which, EVNSPC will construct, complete and energize 13 110 kV power network projects and 25 distribution network projects. These investment projects will positively contribute to the socio-economic development strategy of the province, in particular to satisfy the electricity demand which is needed for shifting the economic structure and the new rural developing programs in the province, raising the electrified household proportion to 98.6% by the end of 2017.
According to its investment plan during the period 2016 - 2020, EVNSPC will invest VND 3,224 billion in Kien Giang province to implement 220kV, 110kV network projects and distribution network projects.
During 2016, EVNSPC invested approximately VND 669 billion in constructing, energizing and putting into operation 3 110kV network projects and 43 distribution network projects. This effort contributed to coverage of the electricity grid over some concave areas, remote areas, border and island areas, providing electricity to production activities and residential uses of the people, increasing the access to electricity ratio to more than 98% of the total households.
The outstanding achievements in investment and development of power projects of EVNSPC in 2016 were fulfillments of the two projects for electricity connection from the national power grid to two island communes in the South West sea of the country, namely: Project for electricity connection from the national power grid to Lai Son island commune (Kien Hai district) to provide electricity to 2,000 households resided in Lai Son island commune with roughly 8000 people, with the total investment cost of more than VND 270 billion, and Project for electricity connection from the national power grid to Hon Nghe island commune to provide electricity to 526 households, with about 2,229 people in the island, the total investment cost was VND 140 billion. The power investment projects in some island communes in Kien Giang province have contributed to the economic development of the islands, to the security and national defense of the South West sea, protection of the holy sovereignty over sea and islands of the country and realization of “Vietnam Sea Strategy up to 2020”.
