"ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer" - Rigorous standards
In order to obtain the "ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer" certificate, engineers must have a nationally recognized university degree in science / technology; having at least 7 years of experience working in the technical environment, of which at least 2 years in charge of significant electrical engineering works; having a good command of at least one foreign language (preferably English); meeting requirements of ethics and career development, etc. The technical disciplines of which engineers may apply to be registered as ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers include 45 areas (construction, bridges, roads, electricity, energy, etc.).
Once successfully certified (recognized as ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers), their information will be updated on the global database of ASEAN Engineers Directory.
Representatives of the Vietnam Monitoring Committee for ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer Registration awarded ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer certificates to Vietnamese engineers.
In Vietnam, in 2004, the Vietnam Monitoring Committee for ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer Registration had piloted the registration of the first 19 engineers. Up to now, 322 qualified engineers have been registered as "ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers" in many professions including electricity, electronics and telecommunications, construction, mechanics, information technology, etc.; of which 179 engineers are of EVN. EVNHCMC is currently the leader in the number of ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers in EVN, with 148 engineers being registered.
Where does success come from?
According to Mr. Tran Khiem Tuan - Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC), which has the largest number of ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers, said that the registration for “ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers” is one of the activities that EVNHCMC's Board of Directors has attached great importance to, in order to improve the quality of human resources of EVNHCMC.
Professor, Academician and Doctor of Science Tran Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Association assessed, this achievements proves the endless efforts of EVN and its member units in investing in and improving the quality of human resources; at the same time it is a testament to the growth, maturity and prestige enhancement of Vietnam's power industry in the region.
According to EVN's Vice President Ngo Son Hai, improving the quality of human resources has always been identified as a consistently overriding task throughout the development process of the Group. “Over the past years, along with the corporate restructuring process, EVN has implemented many synchronous solutions, contributing to improving production - business efficiency and increasing labor productivity, including finding opportunities to improve qualifications for EVN’s personnel. Therefore, the qualifications and skills of personnel have been significantly improved, the labor productivity per power sales of one year is always higher than that of the previous year "- Mr. Ngo Son Hai said.
Judging the important role of ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers in the power sector in the journey of digital transformation and application of achievements of the 4th Industrial Revolution in EVN's production and business activities, according to EVN's Vice President Ngo Son Hai, in the coming time, EVN and its member units will keep on renovating and synchronizing their human resource training and development activities towards attaching importance to personnel qualification and quality development; paying attention to highly qualified personnel training and development; promoting and improving the quality of technical management personnel such as operators, skilled workers, etc.
In particular, EVN will increase the quantity and quality of training and retraining programs on new technologies, modern techniques, training talented engineers and technical experts in key fields such as management of power system, power transmission grid, maintenance and repair of thermal power plants, automation, information technology, etc. in Vietnam or abroad, meeting the requirements of training high quality human resources of EVN.
