During the period 2022–2025, Buon Kuop Hydropower Company has been one of the most active units of EVNGENCO3 in the field of digital transformation. Many technological application items have been completed, contributing to enhancing management efficiency, improving operational safety, and optimizing power generation.

As of October 2025, the Company has completed many key items, which have been put into actual operation and brought clear results.

One of the prominent outcomes includes: digitalizing the flood warning stations for downstream areas of the Buon Kuop and Buon Tua Srah reservoirs; applying artificial intelligence (neural networks) to develop a rainfall–inflow forecasting program for the Buon Tua Srah, Buon Kuop and Srepok 3 reservoirs, aiming to gradually improve the accuracy of early inflow forecasting for the reservoirs to support operation and flood regulation. This program is currently being upgraded to a web version for more convenient data access and sharing.

The automatic hydrological monitoring system (rainfall and water level measurement), combined with the rainfall–runoff forecasting application, has helped increase forecasting accuracy to support reservoir regulation, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety for downstream communities.

In addition, the application of digital mapping has helped the Company improve management of project boundaries /markers, closely monitor and promptly respond to landslides, as well as downstream flooding conditions corresponding to different spillway discharge levels.

In the field of equipment management, the Company has implemented the Technical Management Software (PMIS) to perform technical tasks and maintenance/repairs of plant equipment. Furthermore, since September 2025, the Company has adopted QR codes for managing equipment profiles, operating parameters, maintenance history, and maintenance planning. This helps equipment lookup and maintenance become faster, more accurate, and transparent, significantly reducing manual processing time.

For internal management and operation, most of the Company’s core business processes have been digitalized, including material management, procurement, contracts, payments, major repairs, and routine maintenance. The Business Intelligence (BI) reporting and management system, together with the daily production reporting dashboard serving plant operation units, has enabled Company leadership to monitor, analyze data, and make operational decisions on a digital platform in real time.

The Company has also developed and completed a digital library to digitize technical documents, management documents, etc., facilitating access and document lookup; an E-learning system serving training, certification, testing, and skill upgrading for operating workers, and has deployed timekeeping and access-control systems using facial recognition — applications that contribute to a comprehensive digitalization of human resource management.

Not only focusing on technology, the Company especially emphasizes improving the capability of the digital workforce. Specialized training courses on artificial intelligence, hydrological forecasting, partial discharge (PD) analysis, electrical testing, incident analysis, and protective relay systems are regularly organized, enabling engineers to master new technological tools.

After nearly four years of implementation, digital transformation at Buon Kuop Hydropower Company has achieved many notable results. Through practical application, digital solutions have contributed to enhancing management capability, increasing automation, reducing errors, and optimizing operational efficiency for Buon Kuop, Buon Tua Srah, and Srepok 3 hydropower plants.
