Chairman of EVN Board of Directors Dang Hoang An meets with reactor manufacturer for Lao Cai 500kV Substation

On May 28 in Hanoi, Mr. Dang Hoang An – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) – met with Mr. Li Zhigang – Vice President of Baoding Tianwei Baobian Electric Co., Ltd. (BTW) – and his delegation to discuss the ongoing production of reactors for the Lao Cai 500kV Substation project and explore further cooperation opportunities.

Joining the meeting on EVN’s side were Vice President Pham Hong Phuong and representatives from EVN’s functional departments.

During the meeting, Mr. Li Zhigang provided an overview of BTW’s development in recent years, particularly its capabilities in manufacturing and supplying electrical equipment such as transformers and reactors for power plants and transmission systems. BTW is gradually expanding its presence in the Vietnamese market, having previously supplied 500kV transformers to the Chon Thanh and Duc Hoa 500kV substations.

The BTW Vice President also shared updates with the EVN Chairman on the production progress of the 500kV reactors for the Lao Cai Substation, reaffirming the company’s commitment to timely delivery and strict adherence to quality requirements.

Mr. Li expressed BTW’s strong interest in expanding collaboration with EVN in the near future, particularly in areas such as power transmission, nuclear energy, LNG power, and pumped storage hydropower—key areas that align with Vietnam’s energy sector development strategy in the current global context.

On behalf of EVN, Chairman Dang Hoang An welcomed the visit by BTW’s leadership and commended the company’s product development strategy amid the accelerating global energy transition. He emphasized EVN’s willingness to cooperate with capable and reputable partners to ensure the supply of high-quality electrical equipment that meets technical requirements and supports the goal of building a modern and synchronized power grid, gradually enhancing the reliability and efficiency of Vietnam’s national power system.

EVN’s leadership also shared several insights on current domestic market requirements and encouraged BTW to continue improving its products to better meet EVN’s needs in the future.

Both parties agreed to maintain regular communication and continue exploring mutually beneficial cooperation aligned with the practical needs and development orientation of Vietnam’s power sector.
