The conference was chaired by EVN’s Chairman Dang Hoang An and EVN’s President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan. The conference was also attended by EVN Board of Directors members Dang Huy Cuong, Dinh The Phuc, and Vo Hong Linh; EVN’s Vice Presidents Ngo Son Hai, Nguyen Tai Anh, Vo Quang Lam; Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union Do Duc Hung.
Safe and stable operation of electrical systems
Chairman of EVN Board of Directors Dang Hoang An and EVN’s President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan co-chairing conference.
According to the report of EVN’s Production Engineering Department, the total power production and import of the system in 2024 is estimated at 309.16 billion kWh, an increase of 9.49% compared to that in 2023. EVN and its units have ensured a safe and stable power system. Power plants and power transmission units have closely coordinated with the power system dispatching unit, optimally operating the power system, supplying sufficient power, and improving production and business efficiency; effectively exploiting water resources and renewable energy at the lowest cost.
Hydroelectric reservoirs are operated effectively, ensuring water supply for downstream areas and optimizing water use for electricity generation. During the year, EVN and other units have coordinated well with irrigation units to optimize water intake, flexibly operate hydroelectric reservoirs to ensure water demand for downstream areas while ensuring water savings, maintaining hydroelectric capacity until the end of the dry season to contribute to ensuring power supply.
Regarding the operation of thermal power plants, units have reduced incidents and troubleshooting time, making efforts to operate generators safely and efficiently. At the same time, coal warehouses are maintained with high inventory levels during the dry months to be ready for high mobilization.
All power corporations have performed well in the power supply reliability indexes compared to the assigned plan. With the increasingly improved power quality, EVN and its units have ensured the absolute safety of power for festivals, and political and cultural events during the year; ensuring services to people's lives.
EVN’s Vice President Ngo Son Hai speaking at the conference
In 2024, units have developed detailed operational plans, prepared scenarios to respond to situations during the peak of the dry season; proactively implemented measures to prevent natural disasters, protect the power system from the impact of storms, especially Storm Yagi, minimize damage and quickly fix problems.
Promoting decentralization
In 2025, according to the plan approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the load growth in the dry season months is 13.3%, and the remaining months grow by 11.3%. This is the last year that EVN and its units are determined to successfully implement the 5-year plan, 2021-2025.
Chairman Dang Hoang An emphasized a number of key tasks regarding grid projects to relieve power sources, hydropower units focus on water storage, thermal power plants strengthen equipment maintenance and repair, promote the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to predict conditions, make decisions on equipment repair, etc. Along with production and business tasks, units also need to focus on environmental protection, aiming for sustainable development.

In 2025, to successfully complete the tasks according to the plan, the Group continues to establish the Steering Committee to ensure the power supply 2025 of Vietnam Electricity, headed by the President and CEO, to direct, supervise, and operate power supply work.
The Group assigns heads of operating units to be directly responsible for implementing assigned planning tasks; developing plans to ensure power supply during the peak of the dry season, and situations of overlapping, extreme, and unfavorable developments. EVN and its units maintain and strengthen close coordination with the National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited (NSMO), effectively implementing operating methods to ensure that power plants and power systems operate at full capacity and safely.
Some main objectives of technical management in 2025:
- Ensure sufficient power supply for socio-economic development and people's lives:
+ Power production and purchase: 344.7 - 351 billion kWh, growth in dry season months 13.3%, remaining months 11.3%.
- Implement well the technical targets set for 2025, including:
+ The proportion of electricity used for transmission and distribution does not exceed 6%
+ Power supply reliability: The average power outage time of a customer in a year (SAIDI index) is 300 minutes.
- Ensure safe and economical operation of the power system and compliance with environmental regulations, and so on.
