EVN welcomes delegation from Laos Central Committee for State-Owned Enterprise Reform

On the afternoon of August 14 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), received and held a working session with a delegation from the Central Committee for State-Owned Enterprise Reform of the Laos People's Democratic Republic.

The Laos delegation was led by Dr. Kikeo Chanthaboury, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Office and Standing Member of the Central Committee for State-Owned Enterprise Reform. Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as leaders from EVN's departments and offices.

This working session was of great significance in further consolidating and strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos. It also served as a platform to share practical experience in reform, corporate governance, and improving the efficiency of state-owned enterprises.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan emphasized the special and enduring friendship between Vietnam and Laos, and highlighted the meaningful purpose of the Laos delegation's visit in fostering bilateral cooperation and sharing experiences in the reform and governance of state-owned enterprises.

Providing an overview of EVN’s development orientation, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan shared that Vietnam has clearly defined its strategic pillars: ensuring national energy security, improving governance efficiency, and pursuing sustainable development aligned with green energy and digital transformation. EVN is actively implementing power generation and transmission projects in accordance with the revised Power Development Plan VIII. The Group prioritizes the development of non-emitting energy sources, laying the foundation for future production of green hydrogen and ammonia. At the same time, EVN is committed to enhancing customer service quality and building a smart, flexible, and environmentally friendly power system, aiming to become a leading power utility in the region.

Dr. Kikeo Chanthaboury noted that Laos currently has over 170 state-owned enterprises operating across various sectors. To improve efficiency, the Laos Government established the Central Committee for State-Owned Enterprise Reform to guide reforms, strengthen governance capabilities, and enhance competitiveness. He expressed sincere thanks to EVN for taking the time to receive the delegation and share valuable insights.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in discussions on improving the management and performance of state-owned enterprises. Through the exchange of development strategies, business models, and human resource management practices, the session helped deepen mutual understanding and opened opportunities for broader cooperation in multiple areas.
