EVNSPC: Commencement of Lai Son 110kV Substation, in welcoming 14th National Party Congress

On the morning of December 17th, in Lai Son island commune, Kien Hai special zone, An Giang province, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Lai Son 110kV Substation project (Lai Son Substation), in celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This project is of significant importance, contributing to national defense and security, and safeguarding the sovereignty of the country's territory and islands.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Le Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of An Giang province; Mr. Chau Hung Ky - Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Hai Special Economic Zone, representatives of consulting and construction units, etc.

 

Representatives of the Southern Power Corporation were Mr. Le Hoang Oanh – Member of the Board of Directors; Mr. Doan Duc Hung – Deputy General Director; leaders of An Giang Power Company, the Southern Power Project Management Board, and leaders of specialized departments and units under EVNSPC.

Reporting at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thong – Deputy Director of the Southern Power Project Management Board – stated that Lai Son Substation project has a total investment of over VND101.4 billion, a capacity of 2x25MVA, and a 0.03km (2-circuit) 110kV connection line. Upon commissioning, Lai Son Substation will effectively utilize the An Bien – Lai Son 110kV line (currently operating at 22kV), meeting the electricity needs for daily life, services, production, and tourism on Lai Son Island and neighbouring islands; creating momentum for the development of light industries, supporting industries, fisheries logistics, serving the development of the marine economy and marine tourism activities.

Specifically, the  Lai Son 110kV Substation will supply power to An Son - Nam Du island commune from the national grid through the An Son - Nam Du Island Power Supply Project (expected to start construction in 2026), replacing diesel power plants.

According to Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of An Giang province, Lai Son Substation project not only aligns with An Giang province's planning and power development plan, but also serves as a key element in completing the power grid on Lai Son island and is a prerequisite for extending the national power grid to the people of Nam Du and An Son islands.
