Towers VT9 to VT16 are part of Package HH1, implemented by a consortium comprising Song Da Construction and Services Joint Stock Company, PC1 Group Joint Stock Company, and Dong Anh Steel Tower Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Package No. 1 of the project includes 51 towers, from VT1 to VT52, running through Lao Cai Province.

According to Mr. Do Quang Khai, Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board No. 1, the completion of the first line section stringing marks a significant milestone, reflecting the determination and resilience of the construction team to overcome challenging weather conditions. This achievement also serves as a strong motivator for other teams and contractors currently working on-site, contributing to the overall goal of ensuring the stringing work progresses on schedule.

Stringing complete at Tower VT15, Package No. 1

To achieve this result, Power Project Management Board No. 1 and the contractor faced and overcame numerous challenges. In reality, during the construction of towers VT9 to VT16, there were periods when local residents did not agree to allow the transport of equipment and materials through residential access roads. Additionally, the construction terrain was complex, with all tower positions within this stringing section located on high mountainous areas. On top of that, adverse weather conditions - particularly the prolonged rainfall over the past week in the project area - significantly affected foundation work, tower erection, and stringing activities along the entire route.

On the contractor’s side, Mr. Nguyen Cao Ngoc, Deputy General Director of Song Da Construction and Services Joint Stock Company, stated that the team employed modern technology, including the use of flycams to distribute pilot wires and tensioner-puller machines, helping to shorten the stringing time and avoid multiple wire-lowering operations that would otherwise prolong the schedule.

“This method has proven especially effective in difficult terrain where the right-of-way has not been fully cleared, minimizing the impact of cables on houses, trees, and crops under the line corridor,” Mr. Nguyen Cao Ngoc noted.

Previously, Package No. 1 was also the first package to complete all foundation work for the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project. With a shared commitment to support the project owner, the contractor of Package No. 1 affirmed its readiness to assist and “share the load” with other contractors on site, all working towards the ultimate goal: energizing the project by August 19, 2025, as directed by the Prime Minister.
