This morning (September 18), the Seraphin Waste-to-Energy Plant, invested by Amaccao Group and located in Tung Thien Ward, Hanoi City, was officially inaugurated and put into operation after more than three years of construction.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee; Mr. Pham Quy Tien, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council; along with many delegates representing local government agencies and units.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, General Director of Amaccao Group, stated that the Seraphin Waste-to-Energy Plant project commenced in March 2022 and began receiving and processing municipal waste for the city on May 1, 2025. In total, the plant was completed within 3 years and 2 months—a timeline considered a “record,” given that similar waste-to-energy projects worldwide typically take 5–8 years to complete.

On July 1, 2025, the plant officially began commercial power generation. With a processing capacity of 2,250 tons of municipal solid waste per day and an electricity generation capacity of 37MW per hour, the plant applies Martin’s advanced waste-to-energy incineration technology from Germany. Once operational, the Seraphin Waste-to-Energy Plant will handle nearly one-third of Hanoi’s daily municipal waste volume.

“Notably, the plant’s key environmental indicators—including emissions, exhaust gases, and fine dust—fully meet the stringent EU2010 standards. Byproducts from the treatment process are recycled and reintegrated into the economy and society: electricity is fed into the national grid, while ash and slag are used to produce precast concrete and non-fired bricks for construction,” Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh emphasized.
