Control center of 110 KV unmanned substation in Da Nang city successfully operated

On 28 September, 2016, the Da Nang Power Company (Da Nang PC) held an inauguration ceremony for the control center of the 110 kV unmanned substation in Da Nang City (directly under the Load Dispatch Division of the company).

On 10 February 2015, the Da Nang PC issued the plan of smart grid development for the period 2015-2020. Accordingly, the featured content was promptly to build a control centre, rehabilitate and upgrade the 110 kV substations to change it into the unmanned substations. On that basis, the company invested about VND 15 billion on building a control center located right in the Load Dispatch Division and installed equipment systems to change two 110 kV Xuan Ha and Hoa Lien substations into unmanned substations.

Upon coming into operation, there will be no operator at the 110 kV substations for daily operation and equipment switching, the acquisition of all technical data will be implemented automatically.  All the control and switching at the substations will be performed at the Control Center via a newly installed modern equipment system.

In addition, the auxiliary systems such as camera surveillance security; fire alarm system, automatic smoke alarm, etc., will be transmitted to the control center to serve the monitoring and management of the substation.

Through the remote control and switching, upon the operation,  the control center will bring great benefits such as reducing time of operation and switching at the substation, reducing maintenance period and reducing fault shooting duration for the substation, thereby reducing interruption duration that affects the people and businesses.

The operation of the control centre is also an important step in the modernization and automation of the Da Nang grid in line with the smart grid roadmap; improve labour productivity, overcome completely these errors that may occur due to human factors; ensure the safety factor and health for the operators, especially in the rainy and stormy weather.
